Orthopedics in Fort Lauderdale

Preparing for your visit

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Wodicka?

No. A referral is not required to schedule your first visit, though many patients arrive through another physician's office.

If your insurance plan requires a referral for specialist visits, check with your primary care office before you come in so your visit is covered.

What should I bring to my first visit?

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of any medications you're currently taking.

If you were referred by another physician, bring any imaging, test results, or referral paperwork you've received. New patients should also arrive with completed intake forms, available ahead of time through our Fort Lauderdale office.

How long does a first visit take?

Most first visits run about 45 minutes.

The exact time depends on your reason for the visit and whether imaging or additional testing is needed that day, so plan to set aside a little extra time.

Will I need X-rays or other imaging at my first visit?

Not always. Imaging is ordered based on your history and exam, not automatically for every visit.

Because Dr. Wodicka's practice is focused on sports medicine, a same-day X-ray is common for a new or acute injury, since it helps guide the treatment discussion during that same visit.

Wear or bring clothing that allows easy access to the injured area, such as shorts for a knee or ankle injury.

Dr. Wodicka completed fellowship training, additional specialized training after residency, in sports medicine at the Southern California Orthopaedic Institute (SCOI), and a first visit for a sports injury often includes a functional exam of the joint or limb in addition to the standard evaluation.
